Amazon.co.uk delay

Hi,

I'm a newbie so pls forgive any mistakes in this submission.

Does anyone know if there's anything I can do in the following situation...

I ordered something from amazon.co.uk at start of Feb with a 1-2 week delivery estimate.

At the end of that period rather than receive delivery, I simply received an email saying I'd have to wait 3 more weeks.

I immediately complained and was offered the olive branch that I could order from elsewhere and they would pay the difference (amazon's price is over gbp100 cheaper than elsewhere).

I thought this good them but when I sent them details of the alternative, they suddenly recinded the offer - they claimed the customer service rep who made the offer had made a mistake.

My questions are...

- can I force them to reinstate the rep's offer?

IF NOT
- can I do anything against amazon for having to wait such a long time (could end up being 6+ weeks vs 1-2 initial estimate)?

- are amazon obliged to provide me with the product at all? Because they're so much cheaper than elsewhere, could they come back and say they were unable to fulfil my order/delay indefinately?

Appreciate all your feedback, thx.

Sorry, I can't help you with your query but I just wanted to say that I'm in the same sitation (sort of) I've been waiting for 2 weeks for my order, it had a 3-5 days delivery time when I inittially placed it. Anyway, I went on their site and looked at my order and estimated delivery date is the 7th April!!! to say I'm annoyed is an understatement.
Sorry.. no help there was I? :o

I ordered something in November (christmas present). It has been delayed and delayed and I was finally told last week that they can't source it.

    I got £3 voucher :)

But I don't think you have any comeback against them. The contract and payment doesn't take place until the item is dispatched.

Thx, I had a feeling this might be the case - presumably the voucher was described as a 'goodwill gesture'.

I;ve had this a couple of times. it's a bit off that they say 4-6weeks, then 4-6 weeks more, then 4-6 weeks more again, then "sorry can't get it"

The most recent time they said another 4-6 weeks, then it arrived after a couple of days (odd!).

However I basically don't think there's any comeback. That offer by the sales rep sounds odd though!
  • I would love to have that sort of a job where I could say anything without getting pulled up for it.

Reminds me of Syed in the Apprentice last night telling potential buyers that their car is going to appreciate in value and they can sell it at a profit after two years!

I had a couple of Christmas items delayed last year. I complained and was offered £3 voucher off next order- Which seems to be the norm.
