Lili - the interview was at the beginning of May and followed the old interview route I do believe. I will check the new vacancies and see what the competencies are now.

qadsey - Been for 2 interviews now, and as the competencies have changed don't know if I can face another interview not knowing what they are going to be asking ! They always asked me follow up questions as well.

Problem is, I am a legal exec, and work (until I was made redundant! ) in an office carrying out all my own admin work. I have had experience of team working, but DWP obviously did not feel that this was sufficient.

Can you think of anything in your personal life then? Anything involving liaising with others. Must admit, I find them difficult too.

Loads of liaising in my normal work, which is why I cannot understand that they have said they needed more evidence. Liaising with other legal advisers throughout the file to meet deadlines, undertakings etc - all of which I gave examples of at my interviews.

    Alas, to no avail

Don't know when you last applied but don't forget they've changed the interview now. Different categories of competence.

I have checked the DWP vacancy website, and the competencies appear to be the same as the last vacancy I was interview for

I think it's a good idea to construct your answer really carefully according to their description of the competency.

I worked as a supervisor in a department store, yet my feedback for the question about working with customers said I had only shown two of the indicators. And when I looked over the competency again, I realised they were probably right. Although I had given a good example of customer service, which might have worked in any other job interview, because they had very specific criteria they needed to tick off, it didn't work in this instance.

So I would say, stick with the same example you have been using, but see if you can find a way of wording it differently so it hits all of their criteria.

I am finding this more difficult now with the new competencies because a lot of them seem to be a few different things stuck together under one heading. I think if people can come up with an answer that emcompasses all of the criteria in one go, they should be given extra points for sheer ingenuity.

    Thanks, Kathleen

Will give it another shot methinks. Not a quitter, and prospects of my finding a job in my field at the moment is nil:confused:

Think I will give them a ring though, seeing as their feedback letter was rubbish to say the least ! they didn't itemise each competency answer, just made an overall judgement ! If they could just let me know what the pass mark was, then I will know how far off I was with the 24 I scored:rolleyes:

I got 29 and went on a waiting list, if that's a useful rule of thumb. So somewhere between 24 and 29 is the ellusive pass mark, and above that is the mark beyond which you go straight through.
