Completely lost, very long post - need a lot of advice/direction

I just wanted to add, as far as I've ever been able to work out, when I first started trying to tackle my debts (2001/2002), they amounted to about £91,000, including the mortgage (£27,250).
I'm now down to about £41,300, of which the mortgage is £17,400 or thereabouts. At the moment, I expect to make my last debt repayment in October 2013.0 -

Meercat - thanks again, I need to wait for next week (got some family issues to sort out first) and will start the process.
Who said i disagreed
But i do know at least two persons that post on this forum, in person i may add, not just as faceless names on here, that did have to give up there beloved pets, and i know how much it hurt them, but they had no choice.
Which is why i stated while you may not agree, it does not make it any less valid, needs must as they say
Personaly i hope im never in that position, and for that reason understand your reaction.Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….0 -
Blind-as-a-Bat, that must have been awful for the people concerned.
Looking at my dog (German Shepherd, 3 years old long haired girl) pretending to be sleeping, belly up on the settee next to my desk with one eye slightly open and directed at my plate (she loves scrambled eggs)... at my ginger cat (10 year old boy) sitting on my desk and staring at the plate too..... No way I could ever be without them or make them pay in any way for my financial mess.
I am not "lucky" to be in a position to be able to offer some form of repayements - I worked 9and still do) very hard. Unfortunately with a well paid job come quite a few related expenses (need to keep up to date with things ie training which is aften very expensive and comes from my own pocket as well as "looking the part").
Anyway, thanks to posts on this thread I feel much clearer about what/how I need to get where I need to get so thnks again for the posts.0 -
Right - done something useful today, looked at both Experian and Equifax Credit reports online and....got a letter from MBNA (Abbey Credit Card) in the post about them wanting to sell the debt now.
The issue that came up is - the MBNA debt stated by:
CCCS when I contacted them was £7718.76
MBNA in today's letter is £9809.63
Experian - not listed there at all (none of my debts were - very strange)
Equifax - £9556
As you can all see above, the difference in just one debt quoted is very, very big
Abbey (through whom I had the MBNA card which increased the interst from my original 11.9 to 29.9%) sent me that letter today to contact them ... I won't yet as I am on a mission to find out about other balances and who are they with - want to talk to all creditors and contact them all at once with the offers of repayements.
But if each one of them put on another 2k or so on top of each original debt - I am never going to get out of this mess the way I planned to.
Shall I contact Abbey (MBNA) and argue about the extra 2k of (I assume charges) they have added to the original debt? Accept it is now nearly 10k? Or what?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks a lot....
In total, as far as I can see, since October (data from CCCS) my debts have increased from
27363.39 (CCCS data from October 08)
to 30720.63 (Equifax data - not sure how up to date is it, run the credit report today
so total up by £3357.24
Spoke to Experian as was surpries that NOTHING showed on their report - they have advised me to log on tomorrow as they were missing one of my addresses so will see what shows up there. But still it will be more is everyone have put fees/charges as MBNA did (yes, I know they are ones of the really bad ones to have to deal with).
Any wise words of advice?
Thanks a lot0 -

You could still stick to your orginal plan of a DMP just may have to accept it's going to take a bit longer now that interest has been added.
Or you could just throw in the towel now and not put yourslf through all that hassel and go bc but expect to be paying an IPA for 3 years.
Needs more thought;). Wait until you have all final figures then have a real good think and weigh up the pro's and con's of both roads open to you.DxFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau
