Finally Faced up to the Mess!

Finally faced up to the mess I have been in financially for more years than I care to remember. Had to come clean with hubs (who is still not talking to me and I doubt if he ever will again) to being in about £90K worth of debt. Most of which had snowballed from debts from a previous marriage.

This is a great site and I have already read some good tips to get me started, though I think I have a very long way to go to become debt free.

If anybody else reads this, don't leave it as long as I have. Coming clean was not as hard as I had thought it would be, and I truly wish I had faced up to my problems years ago.

But hey ho, the only way is up, and that's where I intend to go! So will be working out exactly how much I owe down to the last penny, posting it on here. I hope by doing this it will keep me focussed!
Just adding up my debts, it's about £90K - OMG:eek:

There's been a lot of threads on here about whether to tell your partner and if so, how to - largely the response was that it's better to tell rather than wait until the bailiffs arrive at the door. Hopefully when he's got over the shock he'll understand a bit better about why you hadn't told him before and why you're telling him now.

Good for you for being so positive! Aside from all of the financial advice I've got from this site and the members on it, I found it helpful to see that I am not the only person with problems.

Thanks chaps for the welcome and words of encouragement. I have a day off work today to work out exactly the amounts I owe and to whom and will be taking it from there. Watch this space, I hate to be beaten and I refuse to let it get me down anymore!

Welcome Zani :hello: , its always nice to have new people!

Well done you for facing up to things and telling your husband! It might feel like he will never talk to you again but I really hope he sees some sense and decides to work with you to sort out the problem. Its natural for him to react angrily out of shock but that will pass.

Best of luck and keep posting!

    Hi Zani,

Also want to welcome you. I only recently joined and the support, advice and laughs you get are fantastic. :T

Although my signature shows about £50k of debt It's nearer £90k with my OH's loans but I decided to tackle the credit card debt first and let the loans just run their course until the CC's are all cleared. Using the Snowball Calculator is great because it tells you when you'll be debt free! My date is Dec 2009 and most of the loans will have finished by then too! Can't wait.

I think the link is https://www.whatsthecost.com

Try it and if it's not you'll find it somewhere else on here.

    Welcome!! :j
