Car boot sales for craft? is it do able?

Hi, I hope I am posting in the right thread as I am new to this site.... my kids have been pushing me to do a car boot sale selling my craft items which range from jewelery to minibooks and plaques.... I am wondering if anyone has tried a car boot sale to sell their crafts?
I have only made things for friends and family and have taken orders from them only because I know they want it for thier friends etc..
The reason I am asking is I feel scared and dont want to let the kids down if I only sell a few things as they have more confidence than I do about my work and excited about going to a car boot sale to sell them!

Hiya
its a tricky one, depends on your local carboot place. Is it busy? Are there other people selling crafty things? Our local carboots normally have a few people selling handmade cards etc, but they are normally round 50p-£1. I'm not really sure they're making even with these prices let alone earn a bit for your time & effort. You have to remember that people dont wanna pay a lot of money for items at the carboot. You'll have to weigh it up and decide if its worth it for you, would you make your money back on the items?
The best thing would be if you did a carboot but also sold other things, not just your handmade items. But on the other hand its sort of free advertising, and you might pick up a few more orders.
Whatever you decide to do, good luck with it! I'm sure you wont dissappoint your children either even if you only sell a few bits.
If you decide to do one, let us know how you got on.0 -

How about trying a stall at local fetes/fayres/events?
In our area crafts wouldnt go down too well at a car boot.
good luck0
