Hi,

I've got 2 updates that continually fail:

Update for Microsoft Works 9 and
Office Outlook Junk Mail update

Code: 80070641

This is the first time I've ever had problems with updates. Can anyone help?

Thanks

I think that you need to check if the RPC is on. I wouldn't really worry about it as some updates break your system. Do a Google on the error and it will tell you what to check regarding the RPC.

I did a search and found the following, if you are not sure then don't go thrashing your system as I don't any responsibility for anyone following what is posted below :o

Found this....might help? Worked for me more then once. This is especially helpful to those of you who, like me, mess
around with services. Anyway, I was trying to install Windows Updates on
Vista. It kept saying that all of the updates failed and said that the error
code was 80070641. It wasn't listed in the help and support window, so that
wasn't much help. Anyway, the problem with this one is kind of a
head-slapper. If you get this message it means that your "Windows Installer
    "
service is not enabled or not started. To fix this click StartControl
PanelSystem and MaintenanceAdministrative ToolsServicesGive User Account
Control password or confirmationMake sure the service called "Remote
Procedure Call (RPC) is on. If it's not, follow the same steps below that it
says for windows installer. Scroll Down until you see "Windows
Installer"Right clickPropertiesUnder the General tab, make sure the
startup type is "Automatic". This will start the service when windows starts
(you want this if you are going to try to install anything)Click OKIn the
left-hand pane of the Services window, where it describes the service, click
start. You should now be good to go. Try to install the updates again and if
it doesn't work, you didn't get error code 80070641 or there's something else
    wrong. Hope this helps
    Good Luck!

Thanks, I tried that but it's not worked. I'll try contacting Microsoft about it.
