washing powder for cleaning carpets

as i am trying to cut down on the amount of cleaning products i buy and i really needed to get my carpet cleaner out having no solution for it i tried washing powder, its bought the carpets up fantastically clean and they smell great too worked out ive saved myself approx 15.00 on the large bottles of rug doctor cleaning solution, are there many more uses for washing powder?

I sometimes use washing powder in my dishwasher if i run out of dishwasher tablets.

I always use clothes washing liquid in my vax for shampooing carpets and a squirt of hair conditioner in the collection tank to kill the returning suds. HTH
