There should be information on his credit report about how to correct incorrect information. He should get in contact with the credit reference agency- if he can't find the right section he will also find the same advice on the agencies website. Which credit agency did he use? He needs to check all 3 agencies as they may all have the same problem.
It should be fairly easy to prove you are different people - presumably you have different dates of birth and different names?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

It does seem odd that they would have got you confused. Has he ever taken over an account that used to be yours? (utility or phone type account - not bank).
I can imagine if by chance you had the same birth date it would be a sort of understandable error. Probably just some sloppy credit check by a creditor in the past who put 2 & 2 together to make 44.
He can get the callcredit & equifax reports for £2 for the postal statutory report, both have details on their websites.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
