Hello,
I am a first-time homebuyer and will be moving into my new flat in approx 1 week and now have the joy of a mega spending spree to buy all the things needed to run a home. So I need (amongst other things)
A Under Counter Fridge
An Iron
An Ironing Board
A Kettle
A Bathroom Mirros
A Hall Mirror
A Toaster
A George Forman Grill
A Cutlery Set
A Set of kithcen untensils (fish slice etc etc)
A Set of Frying Pans
A Saucepan
A Baking Tray
A Set of Mugs
A Dinner Set (plates, bowls etc)
A Set of Knives
Other Miscellaneous kitchen ware (microwavable dish etc)
Window Blinds
A Floor mat (front door)
A Phone (pref cheap cordless!)
.......basically thats all I could think of off the top of my head, but thats an idea of the taks ahead of me!
I already have a sofa, washer/dryer, coffee table, bed, wardrobes but the next most important purchase is the fridge....
So I call on anyone out there to let me know of somewhere reputable (either offline or online (preferred)) where I can get the above items at reasonable prices - preferrable sale prices!
I'd preferred to go to as few websites as possible and would rather do a MASSIVE bulk order to get as much done all at once.
Basically, what i am asking is if anyone has seen any good deals/ reductions on any of the above. I have two days off soon to scout around on the net to look for myself, but if anyone knows of a bargain out there please please please let me know!!!!
Thanks !!!
Wish me luck!

would anyone recommend Ikea for a lot of the above? I know its cheap there, but is that a reflection of the quality of the goods they sell!??!0

Hello neilb1977
I don't know if you're a fan of 'designer' or branded goods or whether you'd want cheap and cheerful.
If you're happy to go the cheap and cheerful route, get yourself to a Wilkinsons store for most of the items on your list. For the rest of the items, chose the best prices in the Argos catalogue (as a reference/starting point) and then check prices in supermarkets.
Your list doesn't include cleaning equipment (you may already have some?) so don't forget to buy a bucket, mop, rubber gloves, duster, floorcloths, dishcloths, tea towels etc.............or see if you can persuade your mum/nan to help out.:D
Good luck in your new home.

Hi Neil
Don't know whether you would be interested in used stuff. I have just given away on freecycle a fridge freezer, an ironing board and a kettle. The people who took it were like you and had just got their first place and were a bit strapped for cash. They will use the stuff until they get new and then freecycle it again - saves landfill and money

Thanks Nile, I didnt really consider my local Wilkinson until u mentioned it! I'll bu heading down there tomorrow methinks! I wanna go cheap and cheerful - but not TOO cheap and cheerful. I am not too brand-orientated as i cant afford to be, but would prefer brands i have at least heard of!
You were also right to point out the huge gap in my list - cleaning equipment. Thanks for that.....more things to concider!!!
Seriously tho, thanks for the suggestions - you've helped me no end!
Maxiscot: whats freecycle?? I've never heard of it!?!!? Sounds good to me tho!!!0 -
Ikea would be great for that sort of stuff. I think they do really good kitchen accessories and other bits and bobs. I bought a beautiful birch coffee table and tv stand for about £18 each. Really nice. Oh, and a huge mirror for above the fireplace fot £15.99. Think it was called 'Bland' mirror!
And one of the best places for white goods is Tesco online. They do free delivery on them all and very decent prices. Plus, if you're a Tesco tart the points can be converted into Clubcard Deals.
Good luck in your new home. I bought my first place at Christmas and I'm loving getting it all decorated!0 -
Oh, and I forgot to say, Robert Dyas for the George Foreman!
They always seem to have a big range of them and at good prices.0 -
I would use pricerunner comparison site for the electricals, and ikea for furniture.Woolworths for the kitchen stuff-their quality is good, like wilkinsons too, Asda has dinner sets for about £4-some of their kitchen stuff is stylish but i think Woolies is better quality for pans etc..Am a big fan of a store called Internacionale see https://www.internacionale.co.uk for store locator. Its split between ladieas fashions and homewear and stuff is Very cheap and stylish0

hi
personally i would advise against
a washer/dryer
they cost a fortune to run
if you think about it, the dryer has
to get rid of all the moisture left in the
drum first. i had one years ago
i soon got rid
but thats just me
