A small victory for common sense!

Last few weeks have been pretty hellish cos of the csa's inflexible attitude toward my arrears situation tho i have finally managed to come to a sensible payment plan with them! They were demanding that i pay nearly £40pw,even tho my reassessment came in with a regular payment of just £6.10pw after i had my hours and wages cut to a fraction of my previous earnings. That would have left me with just £56pw to feed my family, pay for petrol so i can work and pay the household bills for a family of 4.My wifes wages and tax credits only just cover the mortgage.
In the end i had to put £1000 of my arrears on a credit card but they also ended up accepting that i could only pay the regular £6.10+ another £6.10 toward the £1200 balance of the arrears.Maybe it is because my son is now 16 and they know the arrears will be paid off faster once he has officially left school or they decided it wasn't going to be worth the paperwork to take me to court i'm not sure, but it is a real weight off my mind finally.
The main reason i am posting this is to encourage anyone else who finds the CSA demands crippling and ridiculous,to try and hold out for a settlement that you can deal with.I know how callous and single minded they can be but try not to let them bully or intimidate you and stick to your guns, hopefully sooner or later you will get your result! Good luck to all of you battling with the incompetence of this flawed system! :j

If that has made you feel better then that is good, personally I wouild not be putting any arrears on a credit card, the courts would more than likely have applied common sense to what you may have had to repay back.0

It has probably saved my marriage in all honesty, the stress of the csa ringing me EVERY DAY,sometimes 3 times a day was really severe. It was getting to a point where my wife could no longer answer the phone.0

Thats the way they work.
Glad to see a sensible conclusion was reached and hopefully all that stress of not knowing what would happen, is all behind you.0 -
Good news blimey. They were ringing my husband the NRP on Christmas Eve to ask if he had managed to raise the 34k they wanted - this is not necessary as they know the NRP has 4 children in household so this time of year is a stretch at best of times - just to clarify the 34k arrears do not exist CSA Appeals have admitted this but we need to go to Tribunal to have it finalised!!! They are corrupt and immoral0

I have said in many previous posts that you should never deal with the csa on the phone. I have also suggested that if they every phone you then you should be polite and just put the phone down.
However in the instance that you describe, I would most certainly have told then to f**k off!0 -
I actually received the letter today confirming the settlement,as arranged and described above, think that is a good reason to have a bit of a celebration and break open a couple of cold ones later on today!
Good luck to anyone else in dealing with these morons.0 -
Good stuff, I've seen the conclusion reached on my Data Protection files, yet still to get written confirmation. I'll be will be doing the same, when that happens0
