Garlic powder v garlic cloves

Options
If a recipe says to use 2 garlic cloves how much garlic powder would you use instead? (I have the powder in the cupboard & want to use that before buying fresh garlic if possible)

I'm nervous of overdoing it!

I'd whack in a tsp and taste it after it has cooked in a bit - if not enough, add a bit more! :D

Generally, 1 rounded tsp is the same as 1 crushed clove. :)

    Hi lurker,

I use about a teaspoon for one clove but it's not an exact science and will depend on how much you like garlic.

    This earlier thread may help:

What is a decent alternative for fresh garlic?

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.
