Travelling to Sorrento from NI or Dublin

Hello everyone

Finally decided where to go for our special anniversary - 1 week in Sorrento. ;)

I am trying to plan this holiday for 25th Wedding anniversary which is on 11th August this year.

I would some help please about how to get the best prices as i am tired checking out sites etc, as the prices are so dear and not much choice flying from here to Naples

Prices are £250 pp each upwards... for flights alone...

Any advice greatly received.:T

Belfast to Milan with Aer Lingus is £106 return for 1 adult from 11th to 18th of August. Don't know my Italian Geography thou, how close that is Sorento ?? But it beats having to fly coach class with the Thieving Irish Gypsy that is Michael O'Leary;) actually scrap that, he practically owns them now too:rolleyes:

Flights at that time of year are going to be expensive regardless of who you book with being school holiday season all over the UK:mad:

Try a good local Travel agent and ask them if they have any package deals going for flight and accomadation, you never know, but August is gonna cost full stop:o
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

I have seen recent offers in The Irish News - reader holidays. Not very cheap, £449 pps from Belfast and through Topflight. I have been to the Bristol Hotel twice and got married there and we were saving all year, but I can't speak highly enough of it. If you go, be sure to tell them it's a special anniversary and they will upgrade you to a better room. If you go through topflight you will get a room with a view there. Sorry don't know any cheaper places. Wish I was going!!:o

Milan is a very long way from Sorrento. Rome is much closer and I read on MSE recently that trains between Rome and Naples are not expensive.
  • I was in Naples last week on the last stages of my 3 week euro trip.
You could easily fly to Rome and get to Naples from there.
From memory there are 3 train options from Rome to Naples, the super fast train which is 2 hours and i think it was 30euro one way, there is a cheaper train we got at 3 hours and was 20euro each. I was told about an intercity train too which is supposed to be cheaper but the 3 hour train was the one going when we wanted to head.

There is a train from the Da Vinci Airport right into the Termini Station in Rome, which is also where your naples train will leave from.

We visited Capri when we were in naples and it was lovely, but i think it was more lovely because it was a welcome break from the complete chaos that is naples. To cross the road, close your eyes and stride out otherwise you will have to spend your entire time on one sideof the street.

I hated it to be honest, I like the country, open space, less people and i dont like scooters :rotfl:

as my folks live in naples i fly there quite regular.
Flights wise the best is teh cahrter during summer months belfast naples run by first choice
Also aerlingus flies dublin naples in summer months

An other option would be belfast rome aerlingus (quiet cheap compared to dublin naples) and the train it to naples, but once in naples central station u need to change station for sorrento or catch a bus.

For first choice charter try closer to date if u can or also call thompson as they split seats between them u might get cheaper. i flew for 120 return before

Also 11 august is in the real high season (everyone in italy is off 2 weeks before and after the 15 august Ferragosto ) so it is nota good time to find cheap options and expect it to be busy (and very warm)
    Wins so far:
£1,800, campari platter, limited edition peroni bottle opener, sharp blu ray player, £600 Karen Millen shopping spree, £550 limited edition blind, Capetown 7 day holiday, Tshirt, £100 Tesco Voucher, £100 Arcadia vouchers, 7 day Europe tour, £100 hotel voucher, limited edition capitan morgan bottle, 1 month bus pass travel.

If you would like accommodation as well www.sunway.ie is good.

Italian trains are very good. First class is normally about 10 euro more than second and worth every penny (cent) :) You can book online at https://www.trenitalia.it - I've used it several times and it works really well.
