Debt Management - Baines and Ernst

Hi Everyone,
I am 30K worth of debt but had never missed a payment until two months ago when I went with Baines and Ernsts. I just found out today that the first two payments that I paid in total £1100 is their set up fee. They never said once on the phone I would be paying that sort of fee to them aswell as the £100 a month they are taking out of my monthly payment which I was aware of. If I had know about the set up fee of £1100 I would never have gone with them as this could have paid a debt off.
When I phoned Baines and said I wasn't told about this or the cooling off period, all I got was that you signed the forms and he was very rude. I now going to leave them.
I have spoken to CCS today and I have an appointment for July to speak with someone about a debt management plan with them. In the meantime I was going to write/ring my creditors and make token payments.
Has anyone left Baines and received their money back? if so how did you go about this?
Thanks for your help.

Don't touch B&E with a 100 ft barge pole. CCCS, CAB and Payplan will offer the same service, if not better, and not make any money out of you, thus you clear your debts more quickly and creditors have more likely to accept their proposals as they know that ALL your money is going to them.
A dmp is not legally binding by either party so you should be able to cancel it at any time.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I'm so sorry to read about your experience with that shower of !!!!!! It seems more and more people are being caught out with these kind of companies, Gregory Pennington being another.
I didn't want to read and run but just wanted to say you are in good hands with CCCS. I hope you get something sorted.DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!

Thanks for your replys. I was silly enough to go with them even when I knew they was free help out there! My parents used CSSC and had no problems.0
