Refund Received - Correct Amount?

in Cutting tax
I have received a refund today after a few job changes last year. The figure received was a little less than expected and just wondering if the following may have a bearing on it.
One of the jobs I had lasted 8 days, I was paid £577 for those days worked plus £133 holiday pay (in error obviously!) total of £710. I was taxed £41.40 on this, which would be correct that top line was for a full month. I finished that job on the Wednesday and returned to my old job the following Monday.
In the breakdown I received that amount is added to my total for the year meaning I was taxed at 20% on the full £710. Would this be correct or the £41 the company taxed me?

You would be taxed on the full £710 if your tax free allowances were used elsewhere.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

perfectly right that you were taxed on the full amount of 710 and not the 41.00 that you were taxed.
It sounds like the company you worked for gave you a full months tax allowances, and I suspect the other company gave you a full month allowances as well.
When they do a calculation they use the total amount for the year from all sources. He's not an accountant - he's a charlatan0
