Hello there,
I have a wardrobe full of winter coats, jackets, etc. Things that can't be washed. There is a strange aroma in there, I think it came from an old sheepskin coat which is long gone.
I have tried spraying everything with febreeze, I have tried airing them all, leaving them scattered around the house for two weeks at a time till the smell goes, but as soon as I put them all together again, the smell returns.
Does anyone know of any way I can get rid of this odor?
Thanks.

Not sure about this, but I was always told that wooden, scented mothballs helped with things like this. I was given a couple when I moved into my first rented flat, and they helped.

When I have a strange odour in the fridge I put a saucer of baking soda inside and it works every time. Maybe the same idea would work in your wardrobe. Replace the baking soda about once a week until the odour goes. Hope this works for you.0

Have you tried washing the whole of the inside of the wardrobe with a baking soda /white vinegar/warm water mix?
I would do that first of all then you could use cedar chips sewn into little bags and hang them on the hangers or good old fashioned lavender bags.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

try a tray of charcoal in the bottom of the wardrobe, change everyday and it should be ok in 5-7 days - carbon absorbs the smell apparently. It worked on how clean is your house for a fridge!Make £5 a day challenge - April

Thank you for the replies.
The smell is not ingrained in the wardrobe, it is a new house and the strange smell came from our old one so it is definately in the coats not in the wardrobe.
Will give the baking soda and charcoal a go......................where will I buy charcoal?
Thanks again.0 -
Wilkinsons do charcoal for bbq's or failing that try kitty litter that absorbs smells just as wellBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
