18 things for an 18th birthday

Hey im thinking of making a box with 18 things in for my sister in law for her birthday, does anyone have ideas of things that I can put in the box? Not too expensive, I am also turning the box into a memory box so she can reuse it afterwards to put all her 18th birthday memories in.

Just need some ideas of things to put in the box first, dont even know where to start!

Thank You

She likes most girly things, she is a hair dresser. Wanted the things to be nice but also not too expensive. Does anyone know of anything that I could make to put in there?

    Thank You

I am hoping to do the same for my eldest daughter in Sept. I like the idea of making the box a memories box.
I thought of 18 Glass, badge and sash for her party. Trying to think of some silly things and nice things to. She is a hairdresser as well so thought to get clips, cape, and bits.
Thanks for starting this thread, don't often post but love to read the posts.

What about finding out which song was number 1 (Google should help) and making a copy, a selection of her favourite sweet when she was younger or a list of things that happened the day she was born with people who share her birthday.

I bought my mum a "from me to you" book which she fills in then gives to me, it has loads of bits that will be great to read when she has filled it up and I'm sure there was a Sisters version. I paid about £13 but I'm sure you could do something similar with a nice note book.

Disposable cameras for the night out, not too expensive, doesn't matter if they get damaged or lost and when the pictures are developed the photos are memories for the box!:D

I did this for DD 3 years ago. I made one of those photo keyrings for her, knitted a scarf, wrapped up a bag of popcorn with a Blockbuster voucher (from Pigsback!), posh shampoo and conditioner, pants (a girl can never have too many pairs of knicks!), mini bottle of wine, lottery instant, chocolate, make-up, a paperback book....ohh loads of stuff.

Once you get started you'll have no problem!

  • How about getting some bubbles (like the ones little kids get in summer) in a miniature champagne bottle? They sell them in joke stores usually.

Sister in law dear, your birthday is near,
18 presents to buy , to much you might cry,
You're worth it in spades, so many trips I have made,
Cameras, photos, a badge and a sash,
    Picture books and a dollop of cash ...( I suggest a coin from her birth date not part of the poem);
A hair brush and shampoo what damage you'll do!
Some spray some gliitter and yet, still a designer hairdo I bet,

    A book , a candle a C.D or two a very Happy 18th to you.
From you friend you relation and her family too.

I'm doing something similar for DD in the summer. Am making a list of all her favourtite songs over the years (including Mr Blobby!) which I will put onto a CD. I'm lucky in that she quite often comes up with the comment "oh, this reminds me of....".

I'm also doing a scrapbook of memories in which I'll put photos of her growing up, with comments underneath, there's a mixture of funny ones, serious ones, important people in her life etc.... I'm going to put in it at the end a letter from me to her which will be quite personal, but it's something I've thought about doing for years (you never know when your time is up) and will now get round to doing it.

I'll then give her another 16 smallish items (not sure whether to wrap them individually?) to make the 18.
