I remember reading last year someonw who had bought a £1500 TV taking the retailer to court and winning even the mfr warranty had ended.
Does any one know the timescale. I built a PC for a friend and the MOBO died a week over the 1 year.

Have you asked the manufacturer/retailer about the MOBO?
Can it be proved that it was faulty from the word go? What if it had happened say due to a power surge or such like?
You may have a much better case if you had bought say a Dell or whatever but it will be more difficult to prove if it was a homemade job.0
