Enthusiasm for newbies

This may sound very strange........... very strange indeed

I was just wondering if anyone, like me, has enthusiasm in bundles for this and is just waiting for something to happen!

I've been making all my changesa etc and although I only started last week, I'm armed with all my information, tricks of the trade etc. I just want to get really stuck in and really feel like its having an impact. I know I wont probably see my efforts pay off till the end of april but golly gosh I just cant wait!

End of april, I'll probably be the complete opposite! lol I just feel so good to have my head slightly more screwed on, even if it is at a tilt still!

Lets get those pounds in the bank........... / credit card/early repay on loan/ overdraft :T

Yes I know what you mean! I look at every penny now differently and cannot believe that I look forward to the dates my CC payments & loan payments come out! What a difference joining a fantastic forum can do for your outlook!

    That's the spirit! :T

Good for you - when you finally feel on top of it all it really does do you the world of good! i'm coming towards the end of a long 5 year road myself... and if it wasn't for the fact that i may have to take another loan out (boo! hiss!) i'd be ecstatic!!

Once those DDs are set up and coming out each month you know you're on the right track as you can see a real difference in those balances. You will have lows along the way.... but that's what this great supportive forum is for... and you'll get there.. we all will!

I can't WAIT to reclaim that £400pcm as my own!! :j

    :j I'm just the same!

I can't wait for the next payment off a CC to go through the account, or the sub-£15 grocery shop. I don't even like getting cash out the cashpoint anymore!

Before, I'd always carry £20 "emergency" cash in my purse (that got spent) ...now it's more like £3.50 and I don't need my purse for days! (Perhaps the beauty of school run/office all day/school run/home/dinner/ bath/bed?!)

The other strange thing that's happening to me is that I see small amounts of money as important - always ignored it before!

Plus I've used alot of the hints and tips and like CAFCgirl, next month will see the weeks of changing insurance/cancelling stuff come to fruition.

    It's exciting stuff!
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18

It seems petty when I write it down but I have for years and years bought a paper everyday and taken my purse out with me everywhere I go... well a month ago I stopped buying the paper ( I read it online for free) and now I hardly go in a shop apart from grocery shopping .. I would always take a tenner out of the hole in the wall , where it went I have no idea .. but this month I really have hardly spent anything apart from groceries and new curtains for my spare newly decorated bedroom.... its great knowing that I am not wasting all that spare cash....... OH and family are bored with me going on about this site , but one of my daughters has also got the MSE bug and we try to outdo each other with ways of saving money.... :rotfl:

OH and son in law may scoff but we will be the ones with money stashed away ..................

Debt clearance is a very satisfying experience. I spent two years clearing £7K of debt, but once I cleared it and then found MSE I probably doubled my rate of saving. It's very satisfying and make you feel in control and clear headed. The opposite of burying head in sand and spending left right and centre.

It's a great feeling to be in control, isn't it? :j

I too can't wait for my salary to come in and the payments to go out. It's just so nice to know where every penny goes and although I am still struggling with my OD, to know exactly how much OD I will be by the time the next salary arrives. It probably doesn't make sense but I feel like I am winning :D

I am new to this too - but I am addicted to this forum - I have to visit every day. Everyone is so positive and helpful and I am enjoying watching my pennies and working out how quickly I can pay off my loan. I realise that may wear off, but if I keep visiting here I'm sure I will stay motivated.

Keep up the good work everyone - you are all making a huge difference to people's lives!
