Options
I have just registered my first bookcrossing book! what a great idea and i am really excited about where my book will end up!
free to register and free books too!! just registered your unwanted book print off or write a label with your code so you can track it! and go and leave it somewhere really random outside the chippy or allotments etc and hopefully someone will come across it and then when they have read it hopefully they will do the same who knows where your book will end up!

We did this a few years ago...excitedly put a book out & watched from office window only to see some kids come along, kick it around then rip it to bits!!!

Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!

  • oooh my i hope that does not happen to my book! although i live in a sleepy village fingers crossed its going to be ok!
  • If you like book crossing you might also like "read it swap it". http://www.readitswapit.co.uk

Its free to be a member of and you basically list your books, find a book you'd like to read and request to swap. If you agree to swap its just a case of posting your book to each other. So whilst its not totally free in that sense it is very low cost, free to actually be a member of and i've had nearly 50 successful swaps in the last year!

Well done for joining the BookCrossing gang and setting books free....I haven't done any recently, may be worth looking out for the BookCrossing Zones if you're in Norwich anytime.....I know the one at Julian Graves was there last time I looked...not sure about the other ones I set up :o There also used to be meetups in Norwich for Bookcrossers, but I'm not an active member now....I know there's a UK BookCrossing Yahoo group as well....weve attended fab meetups/conventions in Birmingham before :D
Better have a look at my shelf later...I know I don't have many 'real' books left lol

  • There's also Postcrossing (postcrossing.com) which is based on the bookcrossing idea, but you exchange postcards. You post a postcard to a stranger somewhere in the world and then another (different) stranger will send you one back!

Thanks for resurrecting this nnutter - have heard of this before but never registered. Registered this time and as well as being money saving/environmentally friendly etc it will be quite exciting following the books progress, (unless I have an experience like Infamy!)

My family feel the same about me giving away things on freecycle but it's the excitement that is addictive!!
