Newbie Tax Questions

If you are driving a low value vehicle (or you even suggested a motorbike?) I think option 2 may work out better for you. For a car you can claim 40p per mile for the first 4000 miles and for a motorbike you can claim 24p per mile.Motor cars or vans:
- Each mile up to 10000 business miles 40p
- Each mile over 10000 business miles 25p
Motor cycle: All business mileage 24p
Pedal cycle: All business mileage 20p
You won't need to keep receipts, just records of your business mileage to demonstrate your claim is justified.0 -
I'm not self-employed but my wife is. I have been self -employed in the past and completed my own tax return.
Can I recommend finding someone to complete you tax return for you. It's so much easier. A personal recommendation is always best. I doubt you'd pay more that £100-£200 per year which is an allowable expense. They will be up-to-date with all the latest tax changes and can double check Revenue calculations when they come in etc. You'd only need one penalty fine for a mistake and it would've paid for them.
I think you'd be better off work and extra day per year to earn enough to pay the accountant. Sorry to rain on your parade.0
