Thanks for that, the last one is though as it is worth 30 points at level 1, as for the others I did not know these were available and from a lecturing point of view I cannot imagine you could have anything less than a HND so you can cover all courses up to HNC or equivalent level. Maybe it is possible to have less for some courses but every single course I have looked at and applied for I have had to have minimum of a degree.

The ones I applied to (Science) also have a minimum of a degree and some stipulate teaching experience and experience of research in the field - all of which I have, but I am yet to hear back. They are still taking applications so it may be a little while yet. I very much doubt a GCSE would be enough unless you have a wealth of experience through employment, but you still need to be able to appreciate what it is like to study and learn at degree level.

If you do just have a GCSE but a wealth of experience in an area and really want to teach/lecture I suggest you contact the OU and do some courses in your chosen area - or otherwise a college near you. Then in time you can find out what it is like to be in a student and study and then hopefully this could lead on to your chosen career. If you have many years of experience in a particular field in some instances I know you can start directly at HND level so it may not take as long as you might think :) I left school with no GCSEs at all and had a baby as a teenager so I was the sort of person everyone presumed would not achieve anything!
In hindsight I am now not working due to redundancy but I worked really hard to get any sort of qualifications which in turn led to being head hunted by a lecturer to do a part time HNC course due to my results, work and commitment being higher than my course coordinators had anticipated. I had no idea what it was going to be like but it meant I would get to learn something and the nursery fees were covered for me and other expenses so I did not have to worry about buying books, paper, folders - even pens. I got an HNC in computing without even having a computer at home as I would go to the library the days I did not have lectures to do my work and make hand written notes in the evenings where necessary. This all led on to a degree in computing and maths - maths was not my most favourite of subjects at school and I did not even study computing at school :D so if i can do it in a area I would not necessarily have chosen ANYONE can do it in an area they are passionate about :)
