Thought I'd post this here for anyone interested. Details are on the Strathclyde Police website and Wilson's Auctions site.

They're holding their next lost property auction on 20th June at Wilson's Auction Complex, Kilwinning Road, Dalry, Ayrshire. The auctions start at 1100 and viewing is available on the day prior from 10 am - 5 pm and on the morning of the auction.

Auction dates for the remainder of this year are: 20 June, 12 September and 12 December.

Personally I've never been to one - is it worth it?

Have a friend who has been and said it was very busy. Think it is £5.00 for a catalogue that admits 2. Was at one years ago in Lanark and took home a lot of stuff that I never used. Have been at Wilsons monthly auction and thought the prices were high. Much rather go to car boot.

I was at the last one with a friend........I'll keep it simple: it was rubbish.

last time i went it was over priced junk that was up for grabs, it always sounds tempting and the website always shows hundreds of mountain bikes and lots of goodies but in reality it was knackered cement mixers and rusty hand tools with the odd damaged bicycle. nothing of any great interest.

Last time i was there it was a load of cr*p - was great watching the local kids bidding for bikes - paying them and then offski home, warms the cockels of my heart that did. nobody dared bid against them.... it doesnt cost anything to be there. you dont need to buy a auction list.

  • Police auctions? LMAO. I used to go to Lanark ones as well. Tesco kettle, no guarantee, box marked £9.99. Sold for £10 (plus 10% plus vat on the 10%). So that was £11.18 for a £9.99 kettle.
Gift vouchers. £18 for a £20 gift voucher. £1.80 for the 10% then the VAT on that so £20.12. (it was 17.5 in these days).

The only good deal I ever got was about £120 of razor blades for £22 (sensor excel at the time, WS protector etc).
