New York Basket

My eldest daughter is going to New York in Feb 2010 for a weeks school trip, She isnt having alot of Christmas pressies because of the shear cost.
But id like to make her a basket of "essentials" for her trip,

I want to get her a photo album with "I (heart) NY on the front and a cheapish Digital Camera,
Does anyone have any ideas on what else i can add to this ? ...

Many thanks in Advance x
Hoping to be a thinner me in 2010!

A Starbucks card with money on so she doesn't use up spending money on drinks and snacks. (we put $50 on one and it lasted 4 of us well into a week)

Whenever we go we take one of these guides. It's basically a pocket sized map, with a subway map on the back, so she doesn't look like a tourist while figuring out where she is! We usually take a normal guide book too, we just don't use it in the middles of the street!!
(It's one of these 2, but without actually going into smiths and looking I'm not sure..but they both look similar)

How about hat, gloves & scarf. I'm sure you could find some nice cheap ones in Primark or somewhere similar. It'll still be chilly in February.

Have you tried paperchase (if one local) for photo album? Don't think I've ever seen a new york one, but they do have travel themed stuff, and really nice plain brown notebooks (that double as great photo albums if you want to mount everything yourself)

Print out a subway map, and if you can find an explanation of the way the subway works attach the two together. It can be confusing.

Soothing foot cream - seriously, and maybe a pair of bedsocks.

A list of things she should visit, including food places and shops that sell things that are interesting.

Lip balm and moisturiser - February is bitterly windy.

A hat that will cover her ears.

Maybe a cheap MP3 player and fill it with New York related music?
