Changing name after USA wedding

Hi everyone.
My new wife and I are finding this a bit confusing, but we thought someone here must have changed names after getting married abroad (I've had a search on the forums but not really found the 'definite' answer). I'm not changing my name, just MrsC.
We married in Las Vegas and now have 2 certified copies of the marriage certificate and one certificate we were given at the time (which we've heard is a sort of souvenir non-legal copy - is that right?)
What's the easiest/cheapest method of doing things like updating her passport to her new name? On the passport update form there's something about they want originals, no photocopies or certified copies which confused us. What have other people used? Has anyone had the wedding 'deposited' in the UK - did that help at all and was it worth doing?
Thanks a lot for any advice

Hello,
I am getting married in the US as well, although I am American. From my understanding my state gives you a certificate the day of, this is what your witnesses sign, then the official certified copy arrived in the post in a week or so. However marriage is a state issue and will vary. There is not waiting period in NV correct?
Anyway, I have just gone through all sorts of red tape for my visa and they do want originals of everything. I sent them all the info to the Consulate in LA and it was returned to me with my visa in my passport.
I would guess it's the same situation. Make sure you send it so someone needs to sign for the package and you should be fine.0
