Jackets

I know this might be an odd question but nevermind.
I bought off ebay a jacket for when I go to Canada in november so the jacket is one designed for cold weather.
The jacket was in the mens clothing section and it was described as a mens jacket, but it came today and the big zip bit is on the righthand side (as you are wearing the jacket) Now to me that says its a womens jacket.
It is made by head and its (I think austrian) so I am not sure if they have the same rules for dressing as we do. What does anyone think?

That if it looks like a mans jacket - I wouldn't worry which way round the zip is. When its zipped up - there's no discernible difference? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0

as long as it fits ok what side the zip does up makes no diffirants, me and my husband have just bought identical coats(i know how sad) but we both needed some good wet weather gear and they were in a sale, i think they were ment for woman but you would never know they look fine on both of us0

Actually, I defy you to find a manufacturer who offers a separating zip with the mechanism on the left. They may be out there, but I've never seen them. A survey of my DH's jackets (3) shows all of them with the zip on the right. It's just the way it is.

I once bought a jacket from republic that was in the mens section and was a little worried when the zip was on the wrong side. I thought it might have been a ladies but it says XL as opposed to 16 and it looks OK anyway.0

Are you sure that's 'when you're wearing it' - as originally quoted?. All mine are on the left (as worn). But you've got to be sad to notice it, if worn open - and amazing to notice it once zipped! If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Oh yes put my arms in and everything!

Cute!
But the question was 'as worn'. If you just look at it - it will be on the right. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Now I'm really confused (not particularly difficult). If I put my DH's coat on and look down the zip pull is on the right (just like on mine). Just to put more into the mix DD's size 8 jacket (no way that's a man's) has the zip pull on the left.
Jennifer (who agrees it isn't important at all)0 -
Jennifer - and I'm equally confused, as all my essentially male jackets (!) have the pulls on the left.
Perhaps we should keep it between us that the guy who started all this confusion, and your DH - are wearing womens clothing!!
Good job that fly zips give no choice. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
All my jackets that are mens have the zip bit on the left when I am wearing them.
Who knows what the answer is but I will wear it as it only cost me £13.50 including p&p off ebay.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090
