chicken from a butchers

i got given some chicken fillets from a friend who works in a butchers (on a friday) i left them in rhe fridge till monday then froze them, before i put them in the freezer i undid the bag, and i didnt like the smell at all! smelt horrible, but ive frozen them anyway - now im worried there might have been something wrong with them - but the chicken was fresh when i got it!

i dont want to poison myelf!

    I have done this before, bought chicken then left it a few days deciding not to use them - so freezing them, when you first open up chicken there is normally a pong (but it goes after a minute or two)...what I would say is, when you come to defrost it, if you still are unsure about the smell and it's lingering then I wouldn't use it.

    You may want to check with your friend if the chicken has previously been froozen (my new butchers use defrosted chicken, so I now can't freeze them) - if this is the case I'd bin them - but this is my own opinion

    I am by no way an expert, maybe a moderator could more this post - as I'm sure there is a board regarding food safety e.t.c where you will be able to get better advise

    Don't eat them- if the chicken smells nasty it is off. Freezing it won't stop it being bad if it already is. Bin them.
