Colour running when washing Pashmina shawl

Primrose

I've just bought a lovely bright pink pashmina shawl in a charity shop for £1 which I've had to gently hand wash in tepid water because it had a grubby mark. However, the colour has still run badly. I obviously don't want to spend more money than I paid for keeping it clean but can anybody suggest a way of washing it in future to prevent the colour running? (Yes, I know bright reds and pinks are difficult to wash, but it did only cost £1

I think thats going to happen (sorry) you could continue to wash by hand (I use shampoo).
Eventually you may want to dye it yourself (with some T shirts or whatever) and get a deeper colour - I did my curtains & T Shirts in the washing machine, ever so easy (I'm doing some towels next).
Best wishes
