Well at least you took it with a pinch of salt! Ahem!
And thanks.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0 -

I've only seen it in Chinese supemarkets.
As an aside, I've always found the negative link of MSG to Chinese food and people really unfair (MSG = bad therefore Chinese Food = bad therefore Chinese People = bad), so here are a few things to ponder:
Thai, Japanese and Korean foods have plenty of MSG and in many cases use even more than in China - why does Chinese specifically always get the bad rep?
Have you looked in your Walkers crisps yet? yep - also contains MSG - why does Chinese food get the bad rep, when it is commonly in 'Western', processed foods such as crisps?
Why should table salt be any less 'dangerous' than MSG? Surely the rule of everything in moderation applies?
Why doesn't the whole of the Far East have headaches and migraines if the 'Chinese Takeaway Effect' is real? Is it psychoseomatic, or is it something else in the food?

Well I've just had some fresh trout fillet with garlic butter, lemon, and a sprinkling of monosodium glutamate which I bought from a chinese supermarket for 50p (100g).
It really did boost the flavour and was very tasty. I'll give it a while and report back with any odd after effects should there be any.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0 -
...and if you don't report back? shall we assume the worst?0

Still here! No headaches, fuzzyness, tingling or anything else out of the ordinary to report. Infact I forgot all about it until now. I got some white fish fish with the trout earlier, so will try some thai fish cakes later and might try one with and one without beside each other to see what it does to those. But so far so good!SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"0

msg can also cause stomach complaints, if you cant tollerate it also look out for the sneaky E621 additive in loads of stuff and very nasty. If you have little children watch them with it as they dont tollerate it very well.0
