Hi,
I have a default on an account from 3 years ago with Kay catalogue but they can't find the account information.
I want to question the default but so far they have stated that they changed systems and can't locate the information.
Where do I stand in this situation?

Hi Pammy,
How do you know you have a default? Is this on your credit file, or have they sent a letter? You need to advise them you are disputing this, they do have to supply the
information, even if this is limited info. Unless it has been passed to a debt recovery agency, it still should be archive on their systems. Double check all the reference numbers you have, along with address the account was taken out at.
If all else fails, advise them you will seek advice from CAB, and let them take it from there.0 -
Thanks Susie. Its a default registered on a credit report. I contacted the debt recovery agency and they have the default logged and paid but no information beyond that.
Kays have no records now dut to accidently deleteing the account.0 -
So, the account defaulted and then was paid in full? and this is what is showing on
your credit file, if this is the case it will remain on your credit file for 6 years. If it has been paid in full this will show on your file as fully paid, as opposed to 'satisfied' which would mean you paid enough to satisfy the company and the rest was written off.. The latter is usually more damaging in terms of getting future credit. If you did pay in full after the default it will be unlikely you can get this removed as by paying you have accepted liability. Hope I am correctly understanding your predicament.0
