Local Elections coming up

Thought this was worth a mention here gang

Local elections are coming up, and most local councils will need polling clerks, counting staff etc. Not the best money in the world, and its a long night shift for counters, but a night shift in London ( were reckoning) is £200

Ask at your local council if it will fit in with your schedule!!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Good idea, but up my way it is council employees that always seem to bag this one.

I've done this for the past couple of years and would definitely recommend it for a bit of extra cash - I've never made anything like £200 out of it but then I'm not in London.

There is extra work available in recent years too due to the postal voting taking off as these all have to be opened and sorted before the main count on election night!! Will probably mean some time off work but if you got a days leave to spare then its well worthwhile.

I used to work for a bank, and we used to get asked to oversee the counting (along with other bank staff) i dont think they will just take anyone, in case of fraud!!! I never got chance to do the counting, as it was quite a well paid event everyone used to put their names forward and then they drew lots, and mine was never picked!!!!

£200?!! I'm working in Liverpool and we get paid £100, £78 after tax.

Although as I am a council employee, I don't need to take the day off as leave! :j

I did this 2 years ago when i was working for the council. We got 2 days out of the office (they have to let you). So i got paid from my job, and for collating all the ballot papers to be posted - only worked out to be about £24 in total for the 2 days, after tax, but it beat being in the office and was a laugh as a group of us did it.
I still get asked to do it now, but i would have to take leave from my current job, and the money is not worth it, compared to my valuable leave :o

You can also work through the day at the elections as polling clark/presiding officer.
Long day but I think the money is good.
you can put your name down wth the council as you may have to go on a waiting list as demand for these jobs is high.
