Scone Palace is lovely but not sure if there is public transport from Central perth out to it.

Perth is a lovely city ( I used to work there long long long ago) and am racking my brains for things to do!

Pacos is nice for lunch (out the back door of M & S ) and also Perth Theatre for lunch (cheaper and really good food). There are lots of nice places to eat so you wont be stuck.

There is the St James shopping centre but if you go out and arround the surrounding streets you will find more independant shops.

If you are into walks then along the banks of the river used to be nice for a stroll from the Inch down towards the Rodney.

There is a new concert hall but I havent been there so dont know what it is like.

The leisure centre is good - great swimming pool especially for kids -but it is a fair walk from the centre as are the retail parks and the Museum is worth a visit as well.

Here are some things happening over the next few months

There are lots of parks areas and it is a pretty city so hope you enjoy your visit

That just about covers it, except there is an ice rink/curling centre at the Dewar Centre by the leisure pool. The new concert hall is definitely worth a visit, but I wouldn't bother eating there, Paco's is opposite and quite good. Perth theatre's restaurant has all been refurbished but the food is still good. theres an art deco cinema with nice small cosy viewing rooms, except for the main showing which is still quite large. theres a race track but you would need to check when the next race meet is on. At the moment the Easter funfair in on the south inch, but nothing to write home about. depends what you are looking for, the blackfriars cemetry has re-opened and the graves are interesting with all the mason symbols etc on them to show their trades as a lot of folk were illiterate. Theres a very good torist information place that can help you with anything further
  • Thats fantastic thank you for the reply , yes i remember popping down to the river i might do that again via the weatherspoons though lol !

    Thanks again

    St. John's surely?

Quite near Paco's, but on George Street, Cafe Canto is very good for lunch (across from where the much missed 'Betty's' used to be).

You are absolutely right - it is St Johns! ( I shall blame old age for my failing memory ;) )

Betty ran an eponymous tearoom on George Street.
