ive now been told sun in is really bad for your hair. im sure it says on the bottle you can use it fairly frequently, and as i now have orangey hair, i cant bleach it either or it might melt, so i spose my only hope is to keep using sun in as i know after a few goes it goes yellow which is what i want so i can dye a bright colour over it. id like to hear abt peoples experiences please, and how often you use it..thanks!

dont go there matey......used to be a regular "user" and believe me the best thing u can do is STOP NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! ya hair will never recover.
depending on ya natural colour, have some semi low light streaks and gradually tone don to ya natural colour.
a. it will suit ya natural skin colouring and
b. it will SAVE YOU A FORTUNE IN TRYING TO CURE THE PROBLEM because once ya hair is wrecked with that stuff a straight shave is the only real cure.
its fine for a few summer highlights but as a regular lightener its an absolute NO NO!!
best of luck....from kojak...(alias got the tshirt) x0 -
nightmare! It takes me back to being 16 and having yellow hair !! It was a real 80's thing.
Stop using it and get some advice from the hair dressers. I would suggest a soft tone wash from them (not a home kit!!) to tone it down. Jellybabies suggested semi low light streaks but I'm not sure if a hairdresser would do it (though this would def be the best option if they would).
Chuck it away - the only place for sun-in is in the bin :rotfl:"Sumptus censum ne superet"

Yeah..whatever :rolleyes:0 -
hate to buck the trend but i have used sun in for years with no ill effects.. having said that i use it rarely... maybe 5 or 6 times over the winter then not at all for a while (during summer).....i guess its ok for occasional use but not for all the time
i would definitely go see a hairdresser to get it sorted out rather than trying to put colour over colourWhen you know better you do better0 -
umm..well i did it again, and its not falling out/melting or anything like that..i used it when i was younger and it worked great, made my almost black hair yellow which i dyed pink, which is what im recreating now, i bleached it again this afternoon and put a bluey pink over it, it looks nice, not as bright as i wanted (i say that every time lol!) but its totally noticeable in any light...ive heard so many horror stories about sun in but its never melted my hair or anything, the one thing i will say tho if you have dark hair it will never get above dark yellow with this. im doing it abt once a week and shampooing it out after every bleach, perhaps this is why my hair is fine as i know some people leave it in.Fr. Try using pure lemon juice in the squeezy containers, after washing your hair squirt in in then dry with the hairdryer. Gives a more natural look and makes your hair smell great too.Competitions wins 2010

i presume lemon juice doesnt do as much as peroxide though....how much would i have to do it to get it say 2 shades lighter?Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0

After I used Sun-in my hairdresser refused to colour or perm (I was 14 at the time) my hair as it leaves your hair very fragile & it will break very easy.
Your best bet is go for a consultation & see what your hairdresser has to say.0 -
My daughter, whos hair has been all shades of the rainbow told me about a product that strips colour from your hair so you can re dye it- i will be speaking to her later-then i will edit this post,if thats any use.I remember using something like this sold by avon in the70s-orange hair.Perhaps its cos i have very dark brown hair-maybe its better for light brown to blonde0

ive had no breakage or weakening and my hairs shot anyway lol! ive done around 5 goes now and its the same as all my other hair still, maybe im just a freak as i remember using it 10 yrs ago and my hair was fine then though, apart from a few hairs right at the root but that was cos i got impatient and overheated it!Fr.
