Hi, I'm looking to buy a man's mountain-ish bike. It will basically be used for the odd day out with the kids along cycle paths, nothing strenuous or too demanding. In the end I pushed the boat out and under Brighty's recommendation went for the specialized hardrock.

Now this definitely isn't the right forum as I've managed to spend 4 times the amount I originally expected to, but if it proves to be a good 'un then it is some sort of bargain I guess!
