SETANTA very close to administration

If they go into administration, and forfeit their PL rights for next year 'cos they cant pay up. Am i legally entitled to cancel the direct debit, a surely they are no longer able to fulfill their side of the contract?
You are but they have no contract anyway. As far as I am aware you pay monthly and can cancle any time.:)0 -
Really2, clearly you are no Satanta subscriber - Cancelling aint as easy as you would think - You have to call customer services - where I think 2 people work - you then hold for a minimum of 4 hours - When you advise you wish to cancel you are put back on hold, to speak to his/her collegue - Then you have to give 1 months notice - Oh and if you try to cancel your direct debit at the bank you get a snotty letter threatening court.
A flawed business model, based on a 12 month plan, what they failed to grasp is that most joined Setanta for the Football season, and therefore dont want the service in May,June, July and August....
Word is that ESPN are lurking to buy the contract and try to compete with SKY SPORTS in the UK -0 -
From what I hear it goes back to the owners i.e. the EPL, SPL ,FA they then resell the right to the highest bider, (Or sky as it is known:))Word is that ESPN are lurking to buy the contract and try to compete with SKY SPORTS in the UK -
If there are other parties interested other than SKY, and even including SKY*, what will they offer for broadcasting rights.. is the question? (Are SKY seeing an increase in people cancelling SKY package subscriptions?)
These companies must think like we all do... looking for best value with our purchases - measured against risk/return... which Sentanta couldn't make pay..
You'd have thought football clubs would have learned the lesson from ITV2's disastrous tv-rights deal with the Championship/lower league... which they defaulted on, with the football clubs expected ITV to honour - which they didn't because separate entities.
It is called insurance. Surely the football clubs must be insured against this risk to the revenue they expected.... although premiums would go up if they were taking insurance now for similar Sentanta like deals.0 -
You can't get sky for free.
Large job number loses or are they quite small?0 -
I had nothing but trouble when i subscribed to setanta, im not surprised they are in trouble.
Should have set it up properly then maybe they would have got more customers, just do a search for complaints about setanta on google an they are never ending, bottom line if you provide a crap service, no one will use you.I am not a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as not being a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Setanta are just another example of a company - founded during a debt-fuelled comsumerist frenzy - whose whole business model required massive borrowing to stay afloat.
Their days are numbered.
Look around your local high street and you will see many more such businesses in the retail sector."The problem with quotes on the internet is that you never know whether they are genuine or not" -

Anybody who happened to see a Scottish match when it was raining will totally agree. Often there was steam all over the (single) camera and you could hear a constant 'drip, drip drip...'. Pathetic production values. Those SPL clubs who voted to sell their TV rights to this karp outfit when Sky were offering almost as much money have only themselves to blame.
Now that they have lost the English Premier League, they have lost their major asset. Kaput.0
