Do you eat offal? And cheaper cuts are good in the slow cooker. The other thing to do is have smaller portions of meat and more rice/potato/pasta with your meal so that you're eating more of the cheaper ingredients.
As other posters have said, being a SAHM is the best job in the world. Enjoy!0 -
Id love to be a SAHM so relish it as they grow so quick. But I do see where you are coming from with the money. I too have large outgoings mainly consisting of a mortgage for house i've been trying to sell for two years and a loan I got for a car which then blew its engine!!!
Hopefully the people on here can give more advice but just wanted you to know there are others in the same situation and its nice to not feel alone xxxAlthough I get lonely  as a single mother there are always two smiling angels ready to give me the biggest hug in the world. Love you babies :grouphug:

You can use a smaller portion of mince for things that you mix the mince in with other things, so the mince will go further, such as:
- spag bol
- chili
- lasagna
- mince, baked beans, shredded cheese over rice
Try having breakfast for tea occasionally - scrambled eggs with shredded cheese in it and toast. Or french toast or pancakes.
We watch for sales of the basics chicken - such as drumsticks/thighs - and buy them then. Pop them into pan with a couple jars of basics sweet & sour sauce (about 25p per jar), a tin of basics pineapple (20p), and serve it over rice.
We make chicken and mushroom pie, using leftover chicken, basics mushrooms (which I chop up and freeze in a bag), and whatever veg I can get away with tossing in there (carrots, corn), and make the crust myself. Pretty inexpensive. And if you buy basics frozen veg, you can just use a little at a time, rather than using an entire tin - saves on waste.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0
