Does anyone have any experience of telemarketing - ie, how difficult is it, how many calls do you end up making to make a sale (I mean do you end up making 30 calls to get 1 sale kind of thing), and would you recommend giving it a go?
Also, any tips or advice on how to make a good telemarketing call - should I be sat there in a tux with a big smile like the BBC used to, or can I do it in my jimjams - you know the kind of stuff

No telemarketers?

I've found something I'm tempted to give a go to but want to know what I'm getting into first - I'm not sure I'd be good at ringing people up.0 -
hi i have been a telemarketing manager in the past - dependant upon the product etc you need to look at and if it is 'cold calling' if so you can expect 100 calls to 1 sale, by calls i mean 'dials' so you have to dial 100 numbers, 20 will not answer, 15 wont be the decision maker. some wont be interested, some will listen to you, some want furter info and 1 will buy! On average over a 8 hour day you can expect to dial 150 numbers or so.
Saying that tho i had a guy on my team that had a 1 in 25 conversion so every 25 calls he made he made a sale,
Obviously thsi is dependant upon the product, price of product ,the marketing that goes on, if the ppl you are calling have been mailed with info prior to calling, if they are existing customers etc
If you wanna pm me or post the details here i can give you a good idea as to what you are needing to do to sell. To give a good indication teh co name and product name would be good along with the price of the goods youa re selling etc
