Help With Moorcroft

This is the first time on this site, and I think its great!

Anyway lets get down to business. I have been a naughty girl with British Gas and they have sent my account to Moorcroft credit. (luckly i changed supplier before they did this!! so my gas supply is safe) I phoned then up to arrange a payment plan and the gentleman on the phone was SO dam rude  , I finally got him to agree to let me pay £20.00 a month. my bill is for £571.00. Can anyone tell me what would happen if I just didn't pay could they get a baliff???
I am a single mom, and yes i do work but I can just about manage to keep a roof, food and clothes on mine and my little boys back. (2nd hand may I add, God love Ebay!)

Please Please help as I am so scared and really don't know if I can afford it.

Tell them what you can afford to pay, don't let them tell you what to pay.

But can't they send me to court, or send people to my door???

Doubtful they try to scare people by putting things like 'pre court division' on their letter heads. I owe them £1165 and have been paying £15 a month off it.
At the end of the day it's not in their interest to go to court as they will most likely get less than they are now.

    Hi

I have dealings with these also, one actually turned up at my door the other day telling me i had to pay at least £10.00 per week, i told him i was disputing the debt and he said he would take me to court, which i told him was not legal for him to do so, he also said that if he took me to court the money i owed would come straight out of my benefits, what a load of tawddle, its aonly a minimal amount and i don't have the couple of hundred to pay him, they know that as i was paying them £1 per month 'token' payments!!!!!

Needless to say haven't heard from them since.!!!!

Moorcroft are the lowest of the low, they employ debt collectors that are perves!
if i had known then what i know now
  • hi had dealings with these ignore the numptys on the phone write to them tell them what you are going o pay pay the payment every month ,they cant use baliffs until a cj has been obtained and you fail to pay ,if it goes to court say what you can afford to pay and make sure you stick to it only what you can afford all the letters sent by moorecroft are full of empty threats and hot air ,if a debt collector turns up tell him to get lost you dont have to pay them by law they have no rights they can only ask if you say no then thats it if they wont go escourt off property
  • Hi received a letter from Moorcroft this morning with all the usual threats.

We have just gone into a DMP with CCCS and given them all the details of the Next account and presumably by now they will have been in contact with Next. Why therefore has this been ignored and sent to Moorcroft and what to do, do I contact Moorcroft, irgnore them and just inform CCCS?

  • as far as I am aware they have to take payments - the fact is if they took you to court all the court would do is ask you how much you can afford to pay a week - say £1) and they would have to accept that so dont be bullied into paying anything you cant afford to, stick to your guns and be confident with them.
