Our County Council - West Sussex are trying to promote the use of washable nappies. They will provide 2 packs worth up to £100.
If you live in the County, go to www.bettertomorrows.org.uk for information on this and other promotions.
If you live elsewhere in the UK may be worthwhile asking your own council if they have the same promotion.

There is also a similar scheme for Leeds for those who are pregnant or with a child under 12 months. They need either a copy of the child's birth certificate or the mother's MAT B1 and receipts.

Either a free trial pack (2 nappies, 10 liners & care leaflet) or £30 cashback when you spend £50 on nappies.

I'm too new to post a link but if you go google "leeds.gov.uk washable nappies" you'll find all the information you need including claims forms to download.


When I used the scheme myself a year ago it also applied to buy used nappies, just had to send them my paypal receipts.

NOT SURE IF THIS OF ANY USE, ITS A LIST OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND SEEMS TO TELL YOU IF YOURS CAN PROVIDE VOUCHERS FOR FREE NAPPIES, WHICH YOU CAN USE ON THEIR SITE, BUT EVEN IF YOU DONT WANT TO USE THEM ON THEIR SITE YOU COULD STILL FIND OUT IF THEY ARE AVAILABLE,

According to the list df03 posted my local council don't have a scheme but I've emailed the local councilors and one suggested I contact local surestart who may be able to point me in the right directing (here's hoping) ty op x

Doesn't look as though your helpful link is complete as it doesn't list West Sussex CC that I mentioned in post 1. But it certainly gives everyone an idea of who is already doing it & good ammunition to ask why your own Council doesn't.
It could be a good idea to contact your local Councillor if anyone is having problems finding out. In my district (Mid Sussex), we have Help Points at local libraries where you can get information on all 3 levels of Councils. Also if they don't have the answer they will always investigate for you and come back with an answer.
