MySupermarket.co.uk

Hi there,

Does anyone use https://www.mysupermarket.co.uk ? I have just received an e-mail about it, but I can't really work out what its all about and whether it is worth signing up to?

Any advice or experience will be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

    Hi,

I use mysupermarket every week and find it a great help with comparing prices and finding special offers. However, it only includes sainsbury's , asda, tesco and waitrose so if other supermarkets are your nearest ones then it might not be so helpful. You can put in your whole shopping list and see how much it would cost in each store or just search for 1 item.

It does not include any of the discount supermarkets such as Lidl or Aldi, but I'm starting to find those a bit expensive compared to offers in other places.

Good luck , I hope this helps

    Hi Piggles12345,

Basically, it is a price comparison site where you can compare the price of your basket with the main online supermarkets.

So if you do your supermarket shopping online, it is definitely worth signing up to use!

It's also a good way to spot deals on certain products, especially with other sites (like fixture ferrets) charging for their information!

There's some more information in this article, from the main MSE site: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/cheap-supermarket-shopping#instant

    Hi Both,

    Thanks for that!

It sounds great, and I trust most sites that people on MSE use!

At the moment I am living it up with the ASDA free delivery codes that I get from here, so my shopping is coming in about £5 cheaper each week anyway.

However, I anticipate that this won't last forever and I will definately be signing up to mysupermarket.co.uk and seeing if I can get my shopping any cheaper!

    Thanks again.

    Hi there,

mySupermarket allows you to compare and shop from 4 leading supermarkets on 1 site. As you fill your trolley with your favourite supermarket, we suggest swaps to cheaper, healthier items of the same quality. We also show you the cost of your trolley in the other 3 supermarkets and you can switch to any of them with one easy click. By doing your weekly grocery shopping with mySupermarket you can save up to 20% off your groceries.

fmam11 - We would love to include Co-op, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi and other such retailers in mySupermarket. However, as they do not currently have their full inventory online we are not able to do so. If this changes, we will certainly add them to the site.

We hope this helps and look forward to helping you save at mySupermarket.co.uk!

The thing to watch out for, when comparing the price of a trolly in different stores, its not always like for like, for example, you could add a Tesco value bag of apples, swap to Asda and it gives you a £2.50 bag of apples.

Its a good site but you do need to watch out for things like that, and sometimes the 'cheaper' altenatives arent always cheaper!

demonicangel - you are absolutely right - I use mysupermarket for all my deliveries, one per week, but you cannot really trust their comparisons with other supermarkets 100%.

If you put together a basket that costs eg £30 in Sainsburys, you will see the other supermarkets displayed, BUT if you click on those supermarkets to change and then do the swap and save check you will find that the difference is a lot less.

They are, however, a really invaluable tool, and not only allow you to compare prices across supermarkets but also point you to bargains within the store. The butter I get for my little bear is the butter that mysupermarket shows as the cheapest.

(and it is very naughty of them to post without permission. But you do also get ipoints).

Edited to add - sometimes the swap and save function shows you a cheaper alternative that has a lower unit cost ie 10p per kilo, but instead of buying 500g at 12p per kilo you buy 3 kilos at 10p per kilo. You have to always watch out for the total spend. Sometimes it is an absolute bargain that you would be insane to miss, sometimes the budget just says no.

I use mysupermarket a lot, you can also earn i points, 1 point per pound, so it slowly adds up. There is also a 400 point bonus on your first shop.hth
