Copying CD's without the rude words!

Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes. Have a 7 year old child who likes Green Day, only problem is the current album has some rather rude lyrics! Is there a way to edit them and produce a child friendly version?
I had to copy the Darkness CD with 5 tracks missing for him.
Why do these bands do this? Can they produce a non parental guidance version, or is there a way around this. Hope someone can help.

Only way is to do your own censorship which means transferring the track to a sound editor try this its free and it does the job
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
You will need to just insert bits of silence or delete the naughty words0 -
Some record labels occasionally bring a censored version out. Ask you local friendly record shop.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

Thanks for your help, there doesn't appear to be a censored version of the album, so will have to edit it. Fortunately it's not copy protected so easy to copy & burn, just the editing will be a bit tricky and time consuming!0

Don't mean to be a smart !!!!!! here, but...
Believe it or not, there is still such a thing as artist integrity in the world of music. Hand in hand with this integrity goes freedom of speech, which sometimes involves rudeness and/or swearing as a form of expression. I'd bet that Green Day aren't thinking 'hey, if we clean this up a bit, Mr and Mrs X's may buy this for their 7 year old, imagine the sales!'. No, that is Simon Cowell and the likes' department, they who sell a 'product' not 'art'. They are also the scurge of music as an art form.
If your 7 year old wants Green Day, the chances are you're trying to get rid of the very reason he wants it in the first place!
Either get it for him, or don't get it for him. If you are not comfortable with him hearing swearing/rudeness, then you are not comfortable with him listening to Green Day.
Get him a McFly or Busted CD and leave it to his friends in school and older siblings to let him hear hat he really wants, and educate him.
The idea of personally censoring songs is horrid, in my opinion.
Maybe you were right, this may not be the best place for this...

yeh i hate it when they do that as well.
to be honest i doubt he will notice it at all. even if he does he wont use those words in any other context except when singing the song (he most probably knows them all through school friends..i know at that age i did)Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
Thanks for all the comments. I did only post on this forum to find some software to help with the edit, not to discuss the issues as to why I was doing it! So I feel it was the right place for that question, and I got some useful answers.
I do agree about artistic integrity, and accept those comments. However I know my son's only heard the radio edit of the single, and I think he should be able to hear the rest of the band's music. If it means a bit of careful editing on my part I don't mind, it's better than some of the manufactured pap that's around these days! The audacity s/w works well.
If you're a parent you'd understand, I'm no prude (far from it) but some words I feel are just not acceptable.0
