I think I have finally got rid of the virus that has been plaguing my system. I want to say thanks for all the help I have been given on this forum.

I think the thing that did it was uninstalling Avntivir and installing Avast, it detected the virus's on it's first scan.

Now, I'm looking to make sure this does not happen again.

What AV should I use, and what other programs should I have installed to prevent this hapening again.

I already have Hijack this, CCleaner and Advance System Cleaner, but what else do I need to have.

Also, I have uninstalled Nero as it would not recognise my DVDRW, I have not reinstalled it since I have freed my system of virus's, so before I do, what burning program is best to install?

All help really appreciated.

Superantispyware and Malwarebytes are a good pair of programs to add to any PC in conjunction with firewall and anti-virus software. Throw in ccleaner and you can keep the PC's registry and filesystem clean too.

I'm using windows defender, Avast free home edition and Ccleaner - No issues as yet :)

For burning I use Power2Go (http://www.cyberlink.com/store/power2go/buy_en_GB.html) It cost around £20 but is an all inclusive 'can burn anything' type program.
