Remploy: Any advice?

I have just recovered from a long-term illness which prevented me from working since I left education in 2000.
I am in the process of being referred to Remploy, who apparently help disabled/ill people find work.
Does anyone have any stories or opinions on Remploy?
I'm hoping that they can provide me with some kind of training and sort out my CV.

I seem to recall reading about them massively culling their workplaces not that long ago? From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
Many years ago my FIL retrained at Remploy and then they helped him get a proper job.

I also thought that Remploy were closing most of their sheltered workshops as inclusion is now considered the way to go for people with disabilities. Perhaps they've moved into more of an advisory capacity?0

I know someone who received help from Remploy - they do seem to be more advisory these days but they will help you find a job and help you with your CV etc. The person that I know eventually got a job with John Lewis - a first for Remploy who usually place staff in such places as Asda. I seem to recall that the person that I know received some training at Remploy as well.
Remploy are better than Work Directions as they are more geared to understanding the needs of disabled people, something that Work Directions claim but when it comes to the crunch they haven't got a clue.
Good luck - Remploy from what I have heard are very good indeed.
PS. You could also try The Shaw Trust as they help disabled people find work (they're a charitable organisation). http://www.shaw-trust.org.uk/home0
