Pencil Cases

Yes, I'm starting a thread about saving money on pencil cases. Times must be hard
I just need something cheap and cheerful to keep some coloured pencils that I use for drawing up embroidery patterns in one place. I didn't go to Paperchase, even though I love their stuff, because 4GBP seemed too much. I went off to Smiths, and even a basic pencil case was nearly the same. When did they get so expensive? They cost practically nothing when I was at school.
They didn't even have any in the shape of a packet of crisps

I picked ones up in Tesco for 49p they did have footballs on them, but they did the job! Im sure I have seen ones at a similar price in Asda. I would buy them now before the silly prices start for back to school in August - which we all know starts before the kids are even off!

I was thinking that - if I was buying pencil cases for three kids, that would be 15GBP. I know it's been a good ten years since I was at school but that seems a bit of a hike to me.0

I just keep mine in an old chocolate box, I'd rather pay £3 for chocolates

You can get crisp packet and haribo packet cases at the Co-op - although I don't know how much they are.
WHSmiths last year were doing a clear one for about a pound - was in a special 'exam equipment' display (hence being clear), and not with the rest of the cases.
Or try the pound/discount shops - they often have a few cheapies in.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -

I was going to advise making one with a free fabric sample (or three) from somewhere like John Lewis- or even chosing your fabric from JL (they will let you buy anything from 10p length and up) buy either some velcro or a zip and stitch it all together infront of the TV or use sewing machine.
But have you tried Pound stores? they seem the most likely place to sell something like that.
Failing that, try Body Shop or Boots for make-up bags which can also be used as pencil cases.
Linked to that, cowshed have a makeup bag free with Red magazine, its £3.50 (close to that £4 mark) but you do get the mag too, the bag is v.roomy and its a well made design.0 -

99p Stores sells Fanta, Coke and even Microphone cases made by Helix and are quite a good buy. In the Stationery sectionThe quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

I did think about making one, but I'd have to go out and get a zip so it seemed easier to buy one. I have a 99p Stores near me (am away this weekend) so will have a look! Thanks0

Fruit and veg plastic bags from Mr Ts, two stuck together with a knot tied on top. Or perhaps a large malteasers box? What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
