That's not a bad deal.
If your not too fussed about the £25 iTunes voucher, then the below work out cheaper:

I too am looking at ipods. I am not very "techie" . I was looking at the Nano - I think that would suit my needs. I was looking at the links you just posted, CashBash, and I noticed the accessories you can (or need to?) buy. I'd like my ipod for when I go out running, to play in the car, to play on one of those base speaker thingys. What do I need??
Ipod (obviously!)
A base unit (docking station??)
A battery charger (doesnt it already come with this?)
A car charger (?)
A Case (I've seen "socks" and i've seen silicone cases...presumably silicone is best?)
Sorry if I'm appearing a bit thick here!!
The £25 tunes voucher - how may tunes does that download?
Cheers

Tesco are offering 999 points with every IPOD. We have just bought a 2gb one for £138. Chose the extra points as this will be worth more to use the points as Clubcard Deals.0

Hi..
the ipod comes with a charger but the extra docking station allows you to connect it via a home stereo system (though you can probably do this anyway via it's exisiting jack but it will look neater in the dock). The cable to do this you can pick up from Dixons for about a tenner.
Playing in your car is much more tricky.
If you have a tape deck you can buy a dummy tape (again abut a tenner) and play your song through its stereo this way.
If you have no tape..we now talk fm modulator connectors and cost...
As for case..god the world's your oyster. lots of links on MSE for cheap cases. Some people don't like cases - it's like the mobile phone idea
An album on I-tunes is about 8 quid, a track 70p;
I know it must seem overwhelming but it really is straightforward.
You get the ipod, the connecting lead, and mains charger and all the software.
I-tunes (the software with which you manage your collection on your pc) is incredibly easy to use)
My only word of warning would be about how many songs you think you've got on cd currently. Cos you can transfer these across to your ipod relatively easily.
I've had a 20gb ipod now about 18months and am up to about 3000 songs still with lots of room left.
The 2gb will hold about 500 songs. Seem a lot but if every album has 10 songs it's only 50 albums.
I also have the BOSE speakers... They are exceptional."Sumptus censum ne superet"
Mental blocks are just hurdles to overcome in life.
Yeah..whatever :rolleyes:0 -
Crikey - thanks for all that info! And also, definitely worth the clubcard points - I agree. Do you know when that offer finishes?

That was lazy...sorry! I phoned Tescos as it finishes on 18th April.
Another question....as price is a factor for me, maybe a 4gb Nano worth it just to get more songs on it. (I notice on the apple website its £180). Anyone seen cheapest for 4gb Nano?
Thanks again

Cuffie, in terms of accessories for your iPod,
Case - essential as the Nano can scratch very easily.
Make sure you buy one which protects the screen as well. Poundland have some in stock for £1. As you will be jogging with your iPod, I would suggest you buy a silicon case and armband set - try eBay. You should be able to get one from abot £4 - £5.
To play in the car - various options
Cheapest is the car cassette adapter. Maplin sell them for £5.

A base speaker dock - again, various options depending on your budget.
The Bose one is supposed to be outstanding but this JBL one seems to be pretty good

Oh, and I'd recommend buying a 4Gb one
It's very easy to fill these things up with music
BTW, found this post elsewhere on MSE - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1753500 -
