Csa Case Help

Ok i will try and keep it short not to confuse everyone and go on to write an essay!!
Basically my parents married and then split when i was 2, my dad moved out and i have been with my mother since, i am 20 now. My dad has always had good jobs, he was a kitchen fitter/joiner at first he did pay the CSA but only for a year and then he refused to pay, quit his job and started his own kitchen/bathroom fitter business and is self employed. My mum left the case open for many years and the csa tried to track him down and earn money but he was very clever and sneaky and they never managed too.
In march my mother had a letter from the CSA to say he owed over 5 grand and he had to pay £450 a month, and this letter come out of no where after her giving up on ever seeing the money. She has rung them a couple of times since and they say their looking into it but nothing seems to be happening.
What else can i do? how can i get them to search more?
I have no real contact with him, dont see him as my dad but i do know his address and that him and his partner both have a business each and making a very very good wage a year, so this 5 grand is nothing to them!

Make sure the csa know your dad's new address.
I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!

You don't know if it's nothing to them, perhaps though you should build a bond with your dad and learn the value of his worth, he may have his own reasons of why your mum and he split, you couldn't expect him to stay single for the rest of his life, as Im sure your mum has moved on with a new partner, you have grown into a decent adult, you can't change the past but look forward to the future. For all you know you may be the benefactor of his estate which is worth more than the 5 grand you have managed without for so long.

Looks like NRP chose to cut contact with PWC AND child - there was no mention by the OP that she/he was kept from the NRP in any way.

Dont know all the ins and outs of CSA but did they mean he owed the CSA £5k
or your mum £5k, there is a big difference, they mentioned 450 a month, to pay to them (when they will take their cut) or to pay directly to your mum.

My sons last payment to the CSA was some years ago at £245 and they forwarded the princely sun of 9.50 on to his ex wife. Thats the only reason i question it. no offence is intended.

Someone else may come along and clarify things but you seem to have this £5k in your head that he owes your mum it and it may not be the case.
You cant say either that they have a very very good wage, have you seen the account books, for all you know the businesses may be floundering like a lot of them these days.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Depends if the secetary of state is due anything.

  • The 5k is for my mum, according to the letter it all goes into her bank.

When i say not much contact he did see me some weekends when i was younger when he decided he didnt need a night out. When i was 15 he was giving £20 a month to my mum for me which is nothing as people with kids know! When i turned 16 he come to my house and said to my mum shes 16 you dont need my money and i dont have to give it and walked off although legally i was in full time education so should of been having a few hundred a month off him.

He doesn't even mention me to anyone, at christmas he got his parents to drop me off a present which was a free avon watch.

Yes they both have a very very good wage, his parents who i do see now and again have told me, their businesses are doing better than ever, they have a brand new house, brand new cars and go on many holidays a year, nobody could do that without the money they earn!

Did your mother every request a change of circumstances or ask the csa to look at his lifestyle if thats a yes then even if your case is closed there are outstanding superssesion that can be looked at ( new legislation came into effect april 2009 that deals with this)
  • The CSA found out about his new lifestyle without us even contacting them, as i said my mother give up on getting any money when i was 12 and then they suddenly rung her out of the blue only march this year to say the case was open and they were chasing the money and now nothing but i want him to pay up what he owes, me and my mother are struggling i have lost my job and my mother is now redundant and he gets to live his happy free of problems life like i never existed and it isnt right.

Does your mother have a working partner in the house? Only asking as any payment from the csa now could affect income related benefits I think.
  • No its just me and my mum, we are house sharing (both on the tenacy agreement) and on very little a year so none of that should affect it i hope
