Smoothies

I like to make smoothies and I'm considering making some for a party we're going to be having in a few weeks but I'm not sure where it would be cheapest to buy the ingredients?
I don't even what smoothies to make as of yet :rotfl:
I plan on making a variety though so any suggestions of where to get cheap fruit or whether it's better to buy in bulk or buy from local producers or whatever would be useful.
Even which smoothie ingredients go a long way from a small amount of money would be good.
Thanks to anyone who replies

Most smoothies tend to have bananas as a base, because they give you that thick, gloopy texture. Value bananas would be fine. Ice is useful too, if you want a 'thinner' smoothie (it'll make the fruit go further
) so if you've got the space you could make your own, or just get one of those bags, I think they're generally less than £1.

If you are near Indian/Pakistani grocery shops then now that it is mango season you can probably get two boxes for about £10, around 12 middle sized mangos in total. Depends on how many guests you are having of course as to whether it's worth it for you.
The same shops might stock large tubs of yogurt too or even larger supermarkets.
Enjoy your party.0 -
Mango is great for smoothies and mellon makes smoothies so tasty! Banana will add the texture.0

I make smoothies with either milk+yoghurt or fruit juice as a base. Most soft fruits work well and are particularly good frozen. Farmfoods strawberries are cheap, Aldi do raspberries for £1.39 (I think). Bananas or honey can be used to sweeten. I've also used tins of value peaches with orange juice or mangos, which are nice too.
The cheapest fresh fruit (and often the best) is from the local market, when I usually see what is in season and cheap. Or you could see if there is anywhere you can go strawberry picking locally.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
A rather indulgent version includes putting full cream ice cream in with it. I feel a smoothie coming on ......What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

I'm loving this offer, we've been eating loads of fruit salad in our house this month thanks to Aldi.
Remember to buy the peaches a couple of days before you need them though so they are ripe.
Also raspberries are £1 in asda this week as are strawberries I think. Tesco's Market value bananas are 85p for 5 large ones
Depends upon how many you have to make? I love smoothies, if you don't want to use banana you can use silken tofu to thicken them*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!NSD Jan 2/150
