if the train home is overly crowded, sometimes I'll wait for the next once so I can travel home with a seat! Bring a book or I-pod and enjoy the journey.
Except the OP's next train after the 5.20pm is 8pm. Not very relaxing!

Can you find a local "free" parking? I work for a company that doesn't have parking but have found local side roads to park in. I would use public transport but for a five mile journey to work it takes me no time at all to drive but 2 changes on the train and much longer journey time!
Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free :)
    Mortgage free since 2014 :)

What time do you finish work?

If you finish at 5 and you think you might miss the train perhaps ask your boss if you could start 30 mins early and finish 30 mins early or something similar?

There's a bus (goes through all the village so takes 2 hours) http://www.stagecoachbus.com/grimsbycleethorpes/serviceinfo_6766.html
looks like it runs more regularly than the train, although I don't think I'd fancy 2hrs each way every day, but it's an alternative.

My OH does Grimsby to Sheffield every day on the train, he drives in occasionaly, but prefers the train as he can chill out with out getting stressed in rush hour traffic, he also says people prefer him falling asleep on the train than behind the wheel of his car!!!! which is something to think about if you'd need to be up early to get to Lincoln on time, or you have a tiring job.

Not sure if all train routes offer the same season passes, but OH has in the past bought them for a week or a month (which is usual) and has said you can buy for as long as you want (I think he's had a 7 week one before)

Believe it or not I used to be a bus driver and drove that bus 3 times daily, im not sure I could stand the journey as a passenger.
