payment options

I was finally contacted by the csa yesterday to inform me how much i'll be paying, they said due to an incident on my case it has been refered to the stockport office and the only way they can take the money is to take it directly out of my wages! surely this cant be true? I asked them what the supposed incident on the account was and they said they didn't know, i was led to believe originally that it was an IT problem, which they replied 'you've obviously read about how bad our computer system is'! surely this isn't my problem, i would much rather pay by standing order than involve my employers. any suggestions??

Pay by standing order and weekly, don't sit back and wait for them to sort themselves out, you know what you have to pay, so the sooner you start the sooner you get used to paying it, and after a time , you don't really notice it :o

The CSA, that is the sort code and account number my standing order goes to, their reference is my NI number and the child's name is the payable to who

They are lying. Phone them back and politely but firmly tell them that is not acceptable.

DUTR's advice may well work. But it really depends how far down the route of a DEO they are. The main danger being you may pay twice.

Just a note, the reference number the the CSA told me to use was my CSA reference number, plus 01 at the end. They never gave me the option of using my NI number. Also, I had to make the SO out to "CSA Client Fund" & not an actual named person. This has worked fine for a couple of years.

apparently now she's agreed to let me pay the money directly to her (how nice of her!!) this was arranged by the csa, i presume this is all legit as long as i get it in writing from the csa?? So she now has all my money to look after my child even though every weekend he gets handed over to his granparents!

Do not make cash payments to her unless they are properly documented!
By that I mean you should make sure that there cannot be any misunderstanding what the payments are actually for in the future.

You should do more than just cross a cheque.....you should also

send a letter with each payment that you make, to the effect that the payment is specifically made to support your child (ren).

edit...You should also name the child (ren) that the payment is for.
edit...The letter has to state that the money is for child maintenance and it must also stipulate for what period

Postal orders will suffice provided that you keep the stub, DO NOT LOSE THEM!
Ensure that it has the correct name in the payee section. Ensure that you cross the order or make sure that it is crossed when you buy it. If you dont cross it then it can be cashed and is much more difficult to trace in the future. Dont forget to send a letter with the postal order as I have specified above.....and again...very important indeed...
    DO NOT make cash payments!

If you make payments through a bank, then I would advise that each time a payment is taken from your account, then you also send the letter as detailed above, to the PWC.

Keep copies of these letters, DO NOT LOSE THEM!
Make sure that each letter is dated with the same date that is on the cheque.
    DO NOT make cash payments!

Thanks to kelloggs36 who posts on here for some of the above information.

You also state that you should possibly get it in writing from the csa that cash payments are acceptable. All on here would agree with that.
Make sure that you DO get it in writing from the csa and NOT her
