Just picked up a Joby Gorillapod for an SLR camera (it's a type of tripod) for £9.00 in Asda. They had previously been selling them at £18.00. Just checked and Amazon are selling them £26.43.
I'm happy with my purchase ... just hoping for some sunny weather to take some photos now!

:jMy son has been hankering for one of these since his mate had one last year on a school trip to Africa. At this price I'll be there tomorrow. Many thanks0

Would these attach to non-SLRs?
Hubby has been muttering about getting one for a while, but his camera (Sony DSC-H10) is one of those compacts that look more like an SLR (I know what I mean, so hopefully someone else does too, lol) - would the connectors be the same? It would be a great Fathers Day present from the kids - right in their price range.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
This will fit any camera. The only difference between the different models is the size, and hence the weight that they can support. If the camera is closer to the size of an SLR than a compact, then you probably need this one anyway. I just wish I had an Asda anywhere near me!0

My one (admittedly for a telescopic SLR) comes with two different size screws (an ordinary one and a larger adaptor). What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

FANTASTIC grabbit Kendie!! :T This is such great value for these. Gorillapods really are a great piece of kit. Earthmother, there should be no problem attaching an ordinary camera to these - DH and I use both the SLR and our ordinary camera all the time. Our ordinary camera, like yours is quite bulky, and the original tiny gorillapod is a bit too fragile for it, so the SLR one is perfect. The max weight for a camera on it is 800g.
Be nice - it's free!
 If you 'like' or find anyone's post useful, please take a moment to click "thanks" :cool:0 -
I got one of these yesterday @ asda after seeing it mentioned on another gorillapod thread on HUKD...a bargain.
It's a great tripod but my camera has a large zoom and i could prob have done with the zoom tripod but it will do for now at that price
Does anyone else's centre pillar bit that the camera sits on not look straight? i have to really alter the legs to make the camera level.0 -
My centre pillar is straight as a die - suggest you try taking yours back (but at that price it would be worth keeping it if they don't have anymore!)What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Thanks for the help - I can't get to an Asda this week, so have set Dad a mission - he enjoys any excuse to look in the camera section anyway, lolDFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0
