Hiya!
It will be a bumpy ride in parts and sometimes you will feel that you are getting nowhere, but eventually everything WILL settle down and you will be able to stop worrying about debt and look forward to one day being debt free!!!:D
Good luck,
Cocker:)
Thanks Cocker. Never a truer word spoken - sometimes when we've been doing this for a while we take our eye off the ball and forget what it was like before. Agree with Ianmak that sometimes the budget just seems impossible to live with so we tend to lose sight of the end result - our debt free future (but it will come eventually)

I never have anything left over. Not sure what else to say, but I've learnt how to cook, to not go out, and to cut out all luxuries. It's all good fun!
And WHAT would have you done with the 85 million Euro Lottery win, you little devil you???
Cr*p isn't it living on a DMP? My budget is shot to pieces at the moment. (And normally the price of a cup of coffee is not factored in!) But we must remember that eventually it will be paid off. Farewell etc to creditors
And how good are we? Let's not lose sight of the fact we live on a budget that a great many folks would despise/struggle to exist on. And wow! a man who cooks :j
Apologies to newbies - you are on the right track!:T Please don't let my pessimistic thoughts hold you back.

Hiya!
You are doing just fine!!!:T
Your new bank account should be a priority as you need to transfer your income into an account that wont swallow it up.
Other than that, sit back and wait for your creditors to reply. Believe me, they will be in touch.

Had a letter from HSBC saying our CC payment is late and stating an amount to pay. No acknowledgemnt of our letter re the dmp. As our biggest credtor (around 18,000:eek: with CC, overdraft and loan) would you ring them and try and sort it out over the phone or would you just send the May token payment and start the DMP as planned in June?
Thanks for any help
By the way everyone seems to have cashed the first token paymentStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Hiya,
Not had any personal experience with HSBC, but this is standard proceedure at the start of a DMP. The various departments wont be talking to each other yet and the letter you received will be just computer generated.
No point calling as they probably wont know what you are talking about and will only demand that you pay the arrears. Pay your token payment as usual and continue as normal with a DMP start date of June. If they call you, just quote your DMP reference number (if you have one) and explain that CCCS/Payplan or whoever is dealing with your DMP, will be in touch with a payment proposal.
By the way, I still get monthly statements from Tesco and Mint credit cards (both RBS) informing me that I have not made my minimum payment and to pay arrears of £X,XXX by due date, and I have been on my DMP since October 2007!!!:rotfl:. (Yes, that is correct, they ask for a payment in the thousands as this is the combined missed monthly contractual payment since my DMP started!) But I know the statements are just computer generated. Both have accepted the DMP, defaulted the account and froze interest. I've had no problems from either of them. My monthly payment just nicely chips away at the total amount left to repay.

I find it quite refreshing, and though I'm still constantly living on a shoestring, one day (in 7 years perhaps) I'll have it cracked, and won't need credit ever again!
On a separate note, I've met a nice lady who doesn't seem to be bothered about getting wooed with dinners and treats etc, which is also saving me money... at the moment anyhoo...DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Hi guys,
I've posted a separate thread but then thought that as the kind fellow DMPers hang out here, I should post here....
I've got £400 worth of car repairs that need doing and so need to reduce my DMP payment from £928 to £528 for one month. I had budgeted £10 a month for car repairs but some of this went on the MOT and as it's an old car, it needs a fair bit of sorting (that should mean it is okay for a few years......tyres, exhaust, brake pads etc etc etc). I need my car for work and my brother who is a mechanic is doing the work, so I know he will not charge me silly prices.
I have been paying into my DMP for a year consistently without problems so am hoping this won't be too much trouble to do.
I am very worried about upsetting the apple cart and starting an avalanche of mail/calls.
I have logged into my online DMP account and emailed them with my request as contacting by phone before the weekend is going to be nigh on impossible.
Anyone else done this as a one-off????
Panicking a bit about this....please advise?:(:(Proud to be dealing with my debts
